In Which
stgulik Pays A Visit
Sunday was a great day (yesterday, not so much, but that's all I really have the energy to say about things now), because the ever-awesome
stgulik was our very first long-distance Podcast guest! It was so much fun. You can hear our antics as we shoot the breeze and bitch and complain and exult to our heart's content by clicking the following shameless pimpage graphic:
It was great fun, and we even got TheHubs™ to read an excerpt from Droxy's Folly, the fanfic wot Jules and I wrote. It was great fun, and I think you can tell when you listen to it. I am very impressed with the Skype recorder we used - it sounds so clear. Hey, now that we know we can Skype our interviews, who wants to be next? We're even thinking about ways we can do a podcast at MISTI in 2017.
Other than that, we are being tormented with drain flies. It's getting to the point where the thought of sitting down at the table to eat depresses me - these fuckers are everywhere. We have tried every known method we have heard of - the apple cider vinegar in jars, pouring boiling water and bleach down the drains, fly strips (the most disgusting things in the universe), but they still persist. Does anyone have a good method for getting rid of these pesky bastards? I'm up for anything, including voodoo.
We purchased the first of our four bookcases for the library - huzzah! Our library actually has a place for books now! While it is not as tall as I would have liked, and we did end up getting IKEA flat-packed, because it was what we could afford.
I've learned to knit vertical stripes - fear me. Actually, fear my Christmas presents. You know who you are.
It's finally starting to feel like fall, and I'm glad. Around August, I despise summer and start yearning for cool days. It's been rainy as well, which means that TheHubs™, bless him, will probably have to mow the lawn again soon.

LOL! Just a bit...
I thoroughly enjoyed the podcast. It was educational, too; I'd never known where the term "lemons" came from. Needless to say, the perm commercial made me grin from ear to ear. R.I.P. Jules' copy of Mark Twain. That was insane.

I do! ♥
PS. We scour the net for vintage commercials - we have a nice little collection going.

I know in the beginning I never wanted to read fanfic, then I read this cute little piece called "To be Hufflepuff". Then I hit some fics that secretly/unbeknownst to me were written by actual published writers, and I was like "Oh, this isn't bad, some of these are really interesting, why the bad rep for fanfic?". Then FFNET came into view and I saw the puberty squad writing...things... 'Nuf said.
And the Hubs read Droxy's Folly!! British accents for the win!! Great story, btw. I really love it.
And I have a question that intrigues me. I've read an incarnation of Her Minder, I've read your fanfic... I don't recall any of them incorporating your music experience. Do you not like writing about singing, or is it a separate place in your life? I'm curious.

I do incorporate a lot of songs in my fanfic (Lay Me Low had the most, I think). And it's funny that you should mention it, because the latest incarnation of Her Minder features quite a bit of music. I made Sydney very musical. She sings and plays the piano a lot in it.
You know, I've never really thought about it, but it's true I don't have too much music as a part of the story. I'm not quite sure why - I'll have to give that some thought! :)

But if you saved it for Sydney, I can see the logic. As far as I'm concerned, you still have a little more Severus in you than I had expected. ;D
