Christmas Catch up
I'm so enjoying this Christmas. The lights are on from the moment we arise until we go to bed, the Christmas radio station is on, it's cold and rainy, and I don't have to get out in it. I've taken the month off writing - it was needed. After the past year and the mind-bending push to finish Promptfest, it's nice to take the month off. I think I'll be champing at the big in the new year to get back to it. And even if I'm not, the promptfest taught me that I can work under pressure and slog through and how to find and use the inspiration around me.
I think near the end of the year I'll do my retrospective - it's been a year of major changes in some aspects of my life, and bless you, you have all allowed me to vent and question and angst over it here.
I finally got my hair cut yesterday - it's been over a year since a cut, and the amount of hair I left on the stylist's floor shocked me. I had about eight inches lopped off, and my head feels lighter in a great many ways. I got a simple bob, which suits my face and my patience. It sits right on my shoulders and feels so much better and looks healthier and bounces around my face. It was just too long and flat and damaged.
It came about because my regular stylist (well, as regular as a person who spends over a year without cutting her hair) would not return my phone calls. TheHubs® had heard me moan and threaten to cut it myself so much he put out a call to his friends, and his stylist Jeff came forward and said since Trev was so faithful and loyal, he would cut my hair gratis. This both delighted and shocked me, because Jeff usually charges quite alot to cut women's hair - around the $40 mark. I took him a little goodie bag of chocolates and candy and tea as thanks, but really he did me a great service. And he's a nice guy to boot.
Almost all of my pressies and cards have been mailed out, with the exception of three, which will go out on Friday. I hope my friends don't mind have post-holiday presents, but I just needed to send them out a few at a time. We've had so little work these past couple of weeks. My boss assures us that work will pick up in a few weeks, and I hope so. We're going to be in trouble if they don't.
I want to thank my dear friends for my wonderful gifts and cards -

We live in an age where material things are ubiquitous and relatively easy to procure as adults. The only gift I could desire is the friendship of wonderful souls like you.

It had gotten down well past my hips and I was looking like some demented witchy lady (if the shoe fits...) and now it's just past my shoulders and feels so light and summery and so much cooler now the weather has heated up! (Aussie, so we have stinking hot Christmases)
I do trim it a few times during the year if it gets particularly ratty, but it just grows so damned fast that it usually ends up getting away from me.
I usually donate it to a charity that uses it for wigs for cancer patients, but they'd made quota this year and are moving more and more towards sythetic wigs, so it's tucked away at the moment.
So glad you're enjoying the season and your lovely cut!
