Drabble for Grangersnape100

I'm being such a copycat today - sorry, Melusin! I wrote a 200 word Drabble (click here) for grangersnape100  and I ended up being kinda proud of it, so I wanted to share with my friends. Mel, I promise you I'm not a stalker. Melusin's is better, I'll grant you, but it inspired me to check in with the Muse to channel some of this feeling of loss and sadness at the kid's leaving yesterday.

BTW, I'm finally writing in *wait for it!!* The Writing Nook!!! It doesn't have the pics up yet or the Hubs across the way (he's still feeling a little low, so doesn't feel like moving furniture), but I'm here and getting settled in.

Mimi sent me a set of the most beautiful rune cards, and the reading I gave myself was so scary I almost stored them in the freezer! I just have to remember I am master of my own destiny and can change things as I see fit. But, in the words of Joey Tribbiani, "Beth's gettin' real sick!"

Oh, dear! A scary reading? As you say, you DO have to remember that these are for divination -- not prophecy. With divination, it gives you the prevailing trend of what could happen IF YOU DO NOTHING. One can always take measures to change things.

For instance, I have mentioned before that when I pick Hagalaz reversed, I experience all kinds of mechanical malfunctions. And so I have learned that when I pick that card, it might not be the best time for me to download a complex program onto my computer or try to repair anything. Because when I do, I tend to make it worse.

Indeed! The Joey Tribbiani reference is from a Friends episode where Joey confesses that when he reads a scary book, like a Stephen King novel (He was reading The Shining when he tell Rachel this), he puts the book in the freezer when it gets too scary. He says he feels safer when it's in the freezer.

Rachel talks Joey into reading Little Women to broaden his reading material, and he gets so into it that, when he gets to the chapter when Beth almost dies of fever, he visits Rachel, and in a frightened voice, says, "Rach, Beth's gettin' real sick." Rachel comforts him, and says, "Do you want me to put the book in the freezer for now?" He nods, and they put it in the freezer, and Joey doesn't feel so scared. That's why I was tempted to put the cards into the freezer.

Ah! Okay.... I thought I had seen every episode of Friends, but Joey reading a book??? I must've missed it, 'cause THAT I would remember!

SeverusMuse doesn't like the cold environment of the freezer. To reference George Costanza, there's the problem with shrinkage.

Every once in awhile, in a certain moment, I'll get this feeling of a rather exasperated sigh, and a, "oh, for f*&ks sake, come here," then a rather gruff arm around the neck and a hard, hard kiss on the side of the head. I've often wondered if...it's affectionate, but sort of he'd like to give me a swift kick up the bracket at the same time.
