Pausing For Gratitude

I'm very grateful. Lots and lots of gratitudinals. Reviews for Lay Me Low are sitting at 598 - I'm two reviews away from a milestone. I don't think my other fics combined have garnered so many responses. Well, it is a helluva long fic. Law of averages says it will have more reviews, but I am still honestly blown away by the reception this odd story has gleaned. And only one flame. Well, that's astounding, I think, anyway. I'm grateful that there are still people who like what I write. Good job, too. I'd be well and truly f#*ked if they didn't.

I'm grateful I still have a little money in the bank. A little. I'm grateful for the promising job lead (if the person who is supposed to call will call me back). I'm grateful for the time I have to write, and I'm grateful for a Muse who is determined to watch me type my fingers off while I have a lot of free time. I'm grateful some people liked my voice reading their fic for [livejournal.com profile] mischievous_t 's Hufflehugs project (I haven't forgotten, [livejournal.com profile] miamadwyn - I just had a bit of a scratchy throat and didn't want to sound like George C. Scott reading the next three chapters, but I promise to get them to you very soon!

Hmm, what else? Marmite, hot fudge sauce, the little birthmark above the Hub's rather nice bum, my songwriter pals, my five senses, the upcoming exchange, and you.

Gratitude For Today

Lots in the gratitude department for today. The e-book Smashwords is going very well, and now the paperback and the e-book are copacetic and that makes me happy. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] shiv5468 for mentioning smashwords on a recent posting. It has literally made me money in the past 24 hours and I'm not even on their worldwide distribution list yet.

I'm very grateful Chapter 21 of Lay Me Low is at the cleaners (welcome back from holiday, [livejournal.com profile] stgulik !) and Chapter 22 is about 80% complete. I re-read one of my exchange fics and I am really pleased with it. I'd written it so quickly and turned it in so fast to meet the deadline that I suddenly realised I'd not really given it a run through. Except for a couple of typo's (sorry, Mods, really, really sorry) I'm dead pleased with it. The other one I read to death; by now I've read it so much I can't decide whether it's the best thing I've ever written or the worst thing I've ever written. Hopefully it will fall somewhere in between.

I'm grateful for my artistic friends [livejournal.com profile] mimimanderly , [livejournal.com profile] howlingmojo and [livejournal.com profile] sempraseverus for enriching my life with their artwork and collaborations over the last few months and over the coming weeks. This past week in particular they have been smokin'. Just phenomenally inspirational stuff is coming from them. The Muses are riffin', man.

Almost 90% finished with the sequel to my original fic. It is called The Family and it is HUGE. Way, way too long. I've got a LOT of fat to trim from it, that's for sure. That will take a few hours' time.

I am grateful for my flist, who put up with my nonsense on a daily basis and let me breathe.

Catching Up On Gratitude

I'm so grateful in general. I am sitting in a room in a house I own, surrounded by art sent from friends all over the world. I'm grateful to my talented friends here. You thrill, excite and inspire me daily.

Longitude or Latitude, My Attitude is Gratitude

With apologies to Victoria Wood...

Jumping on the Thankful bandwagon is easy. My positives outweigh the negatives.

I'm thankful for the friends I've made here, who 'get' me.

I'm thankful for the Muse.

I'm thankful for food in the larder, and friends who are still sending job possibilities our way.
