I hope you and TheHubs will find another job that will work for you both. Working for people who give every appearance that they don't give a damn about the people who report to them will never change unless they get a direct order from their own bosses, to stop what they are doing and do this instead.
The skin on my hands and lower arms are dried out. I think it does have something to do with hand washing, but also staying inside 95% of the time makes my skin dryer, too.
As for changing uke chords neatly, I just practiced quickly changing from one cord to another until I had it down pat. It seems to have helped me learn how to arrange my fingers in one pattern or another for chord changes. I played directly on the tips of my fingers, and could arrange my fingers in a form that fit whichever chord I wanted to play next. Back an forth, back and forth, etc. until I could do it without thinking. It was very boring, but it worked very well for me.
If company B is willing to let you have the shift you need/want, that would be the one I would choose... but I've always been a "bird in the hand" kinda person. If it's not a big difference in money, I'd rather take the one that I think I'll not have to argue with so much. I wish you and TheHubs luck with finding the one that works for y'all.
